Nikki

Lead menopause nurse in South Wales NHS

About me

I work part time for the NHS in South Wales, as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Lead Menopause nurse where I work alongside a Consultant in a specialist menopause clinic. I also run nurse-led menopause clinics in the community. I also regularly lead menopause awareness sessions and teach various professionals on all aspects of menopause care.

I trained as a nurse at Cardiff University and have worked in Women’s Health since qualifying in 2000. I am currently working towards becoming a British Menopause Society specialist. My special interests are Occupational Health and menopause and HIV and menopause.

I have two small children, I enjoy running (1/2 marathons and 10K’s) and have an orange belt in kickboxing.

Initial phone consultation, report and resources

The initial consultation lasts 45 minutes. I will take a personal history and discuss specific symptoms. I will talk about what is normal during menopause, answer any questions and talk through the range of treatment options, both lifestyle-based and pharmaceutical.

All appointments are conducted on the phone, so you won't need to travel. You can select a day and time that suits you.

Following the appointment, I will send you a personalised post-appointment report and a resources pack.

Follow-up phone consultation

I will discuss your recent experiences since we had the initial consultation to help to keep your treatment plan on track.

All appointments are conducted on the phone, so you won't need to travel. You can select a day and time that suits you.

HRT Switching consultation - 15 mins

Are you struggling to get hold of your regular HRT due to shortages? Do you want to know what others are available for you, so you can ask your GP to consider a new prescription?

There are currently shortages of many HRT products. Switching HRT treatment can be a bit tricky if your GP is not aware of how to ensure that you're getting the closest possible treatment to what you're already on, and the uncertainty can make many women anxious. The good news is that there are many HRT therapies still available. You can book a 15 min call with Nikki, a lead menopause nurse, to discuss your options, based on your current regime.
