Supporting a long-serving, 1,300-strong workforce

The challenge

NHBC is the UK's largest warranty and insurance provider for new-build homes, and one of the construction industry's most established employers, with over 1,300 colleagues across Milton Keynes, London and field-based roles nationwide.

Like many organisations with a long-serving workforce, NHBC recognised that colleagues were moving through key life stages – fertility, pregnancy, parenthood, menopause and men's health – without consistent, specialist support in place. A review of the existing benefits offering found that while general wellbeing cover was there, it stopped short of the practical, expert-led support colleagues increasingly expect.

Evidence links these life stages directly to attrition and sickness absence. With the Employment Rights Act set to require menopause action plans by 2027, NHBC also saw an opportunity to get ahead of upcoming legislation rather than react to it.

The solution

NHBC chose Peppy as a single platform to support colleagues through fertility, pregnancy, early parenthood, menopause, and general men's and women's health – giving every colleague, and their partners, unlimited access to specialist practitioners, one-to-one consultations, live events and clinical services.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

“For me, one of the biggest benefits is access to trusted clinical experts. This is reassuring as we develop initiatives like our Menopause Action Plan and support our colleague networks. Peppy has strengthened our wellbeing offering and helped us provide more meaningful, inclusive support for everyone.”

Benefits & Wellbeing Business Partner, NHBC

A launch built on visibility

NHBC launched Peppy as a full change programme. They introduced it at the February Benefits Fair, embedded via trusted colleague groups (BeMe Chairs, the 40+ strong Menopause Circle), backed by manager training and a men's health specialist session, then sustained through existing channels (Managers' Toolbox, Letterbox, Engage Network). Landing as embedded from day one rather than bolted on.

Proactive by design, proven within months

NHBC didn't wait for absence data to force their hand, they built the business case on the cost of inaction, embedded Peppy through trusted colleague networks and trained managers ahead of go-live, and had a quarter of the workforce signed up within three months, with an NPS of 100 to show for it. That's what a best-in-class benefits launch looks like: proactive, embedded, and proven fast.

USER TESTIMONIAL

“Peppy has been a lifeline for me during a time when I was struggling to get support from my GP. I often felt that my concerns were not being listened to or taken seriously, which was both frustrating and upsetting.
The Peppy team took time to listen, understand, and offer helpful advice. What really stood out was the genuine care and the follow-up support they provided, checking in on me and ensuring I felt supported throughout my journey.
Having access to knowledgeable, compassionate professionals without judgement made a significant difference to my well-being.
I am extremely grateful for the support I have received and would highly recommend Peppy to anyone needing advice or someone to talk to.”
